Module 2: The Body and Brain of Anger
Anger often feels like a thought problem, but it is also a body state. Heart rate, breathing, muscle tension and threat scanning can rise before the person has chosen words.
The 60-second reset
- Stop speaking for one breath.
- Lower your shoulders and unclench your hands.
- Exhale longer than you inhale.
- Name the body signal: “I am activated.”
- Delay the response until the body is cooler.
The aim is not to suppress anger. The aim is to prevent anger from driving the car.
